Genies is looking for a Senior Counsel to join its growing Legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Counsel is responsible for working on a broad range of legal matters, including drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on product launches, reviewing marketing and community programs, and otherwise assisting on legal issues that arise across the company. 

What You’ll be Doing: 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate of a wide range of legal agreements in support of Genies’ business, ranging from the routine to the highly complex and highly negotiated
  • Advise on a broad range of matters including product development, intellectual property, privacy, regulatory, consumer product, content moderation, security, and more
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant US and international laws, regulations and developments and provide practical and effective advice to the business
  • Contribute to the development of legal positions on novel issues in Web3
  • Support the development and implementation of scalable legal templates and processes to efficiently handle the company’s legal needs
  • Be a key legal point of contact across key pieces of the business and assist with legal matters as they arise across all functions
  • Assist on data privacy compliance
  • Participate in managing Genies’ IP portfolio 
  • Support the scaling up efforts of the legal function

What You Should Have: 

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in California 
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a law firm of in-house legal department, preferably in a technology or start-up environment
  • Experience drafting, advising and negotiating complex contracts, particularly with technology and intellectual property licenses
  • Broad range of legal experience, particularly in technology, intellectual property, privacy, and consumer protection issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and exceptional drive, precision, and attention to detail
  • Excellent time and self-management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
  • Highlight organized, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgment, including determining when issues should be escalated
  • Strong relationship building skills and abilities
